The Emirates of the UAE

The United Arab Emirates is divided into seven Emirates which form the constitutional federation, and are each independently ruled by a Sheikh and fall under the leadership of the central government. The seven emirates are: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras-Al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. The federation was established in 1971 by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan to safeguard Arab unity and to protect the oil-rich coast from its powerful neighbours.

Abu Dhabi

Situated on the border of Saudi Arabia and the sultanate of Oman kissing the Arabian Gulf, this majestic city scape adorned with skyscrapers overlooking a serene Corniche, is your ideal wedding destination. Welcome to Abu Dhabi, the richest of the richest that will surpass all your expectations of an ideal wedding destination. The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, boasts the city’s largest banquet hall, with an ocean view terrace that provides the perfect site for both a cocktail reception and a private wedding, The Ritz Carlton offers you a stunning view of the Grand Canal and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque taking wedding romance to the next level.

Ajman

Ajman  may be the smallest emirate, but has some incredibly rich agricultural land that can’t be found anywhere else. It is also home to the UAE’s whitest of the whitest beaches making it an ideal wedding spot in some of the city’s five-star luxury oceanfront hotels. Ajman’s top attractions include the Ajman Museum, The Dhow Yard where you can witness the traditional Emirati boat being built in front of your very eyes. Ajman has also very famous archaeological sites that demand close attention to detail. All this and more gives Ajman a serene yet exclusive feel.

Dubai

The Atlantis the Palm is perhaps the most overstated and exclusive places to get married in, with a reception area on the beach that can hold up to 1000 guests. Welcome to Dubai, the city that never sleeps. Dubai is a dreamy city popular among couples who want to spend day after day creating unforgettable memories with friends and families. Home to the Burj Al Arab which has a spectacular ballroom as described by common folk and celebrities alike, Dubai is your dream destination for a fairytale wedding. Be it in the Dubai Marina Yacht Club or the One & Only Royal Mirage, Dubai wedding venues are a cut above the rest when it comes to setting standards for destination weddings.

Fujairah

This is the only emirate that is almost entirely mountainous, and this makes Fujairah a campers delight. Fujairah’s rocky terrain is ideal for treks, hikes and rugged adventure. But if you want to experience an oasis in the centre of this stone enclave, then The Le Meridian, is your place to survive. Exchange marriage vows in this magnificent glass hotel set amidst a rocky landscape, with nothing else but miles and miles of barren land around.

Ras Al Khaimah

The name of this serene coastal town also translates as “Top of the Tent” and has historically important villages and settlements reflecting its fishing and pearl-diving heritage. Its famous agricultural farms, abundance of potable fresh water, thermal springs and palm gardens nestled in magnificent mountains make this a very dear Emirate to many.

Sharjah

This city of contrasts is a near neighbour of Dubai, with an impressive coastline that stretches to 16km and surprisingly rich in flora and fauna. Sharjah embraces its traditions very closely and this is reflected in their culinary art, music, dance and folklore. The Sharjah Corniche is a unique landmark that overlooks the Arabian Sea, complete with green parks for a leisurely stroll. The Marbella Resort in Sharjah with its Andalusian architecture and spectacular ballroom is the perfect place to throw your wedding party.

Umm Al Quwain

It is said that Umm Al Quwain is a haven for those who enjoy the sounds of the waves and peace. This Emirate provides the most interesting of sailing experiences in their calm lagoons. Ideally a water-sport haven, visitors can explore deserted islands and mush mangrove swamps, and spot flamingos in their natural surroundings. The Umm Al Quwain beach Resort offers couples a beach front wedding set against a calm sea, and relaxing spas that give an exquisite feel. The Flamingo Beach Resort is a great spot for beach loving couples  who would want to experience hunting rare species of crabs in the night. Your catch would also be cooked to perfection and served in your buffet for dinner.
