The Beginning

Kostas and I met years ago between studying and taking tests as classmates at an English course in our college years. For two years we were just friends, but as we were getting closer and closer, we realized that our feelings for each other were deeper than just a friendship. Since then we are inseparable!

The Proposal

After a long day for me as I was getting ready for a new job, while I was trying to relax at home, the door bell rung. I opened the door and there was Kostas on one knee holding an engagement ring towards me and asking me the big question! It came to me as a surprise because he was supposed to return from a business trip the next day, but fortunately he had other plans. Of course I said “I do” right away and we celebrated our engagement at our favorite local bar.  

The Destination

We both wanted a relaxed summer wedding so the decision about the destination was easy, the island of Kefalonia in Greece, which is the place where I grew up and my whole family still lives there. We thought that it would be a great opportunity for us and our friends to combine our wedding with a few days of relaxation on a picturesque Greek island at the end of August.

The Ceremony

The small chapel where we got married was hidden in a small pine forest by the sea. We got married at sunset as the sun was touching the sea, creating amazing colors in the sky. Every little detail was taken care of by a good friend and colleague, professional destination wedding planner, Katerina of My Ionian Wedding LTC.

The Celebration

The venue was also by the sea with plenty of room for all our guests. It is more like a big garden with plenty of flowers and pine trees surrounding it. The decoration was exactly as we wanted it, simple and elegant, with white hydrangeas, ivy and white lace. Champagne, traditional Kefalonian specialties, Greek wine, variety of fresh fruit and a delicious wedding cake satisfied everybody’s appetite. The party that followed kept everybody on the dance floor until 5 in the morning!

The Destination Wedding Experience

For us our wedding in Kefalonia was an unforgettable experience. Everything flew perfectly and as we had planned it. Kefalonia is an amazing island where we had the chance to enjoy relaxing days before and after the wedding among good friends and relatives. Of course I have to mention that all that would not be possible without the precious help of our wedding planner, Katerina, who took care of every detail, such as paper work, decoration, accommodation, choice of venue, photographer, dj etc.

If we had the chance, we would do it all over again!
