Wedding Cocktails From Around The World

Across the world, life events are often celebrated with a little bubbly. If a new baby is born, you wet the baby’s head. If you buy a new house, you crack open the champagne. When the marriage vows are said and done, you toast the happy couple with France’s finest. Although a perfectly good tradition, why not take it to the next level and create a signature wedding cocktail?

For your destination wedding, you could find out what the local drop is and use it in a cocktail to wow your guests. Here are a few suggestions from around the world to get you started - just don’t be tempted to sample them all!

Ola! – steal a bit of Spanish tradition and create a Sparkling Sangria Tradicional, which combines the traditional Spanish concoction of red wine and fruit with champagne.

One Tequila, two tequila – turn your wedding into a Mexican fiesta with a Cuervo Especial Oasis. Think of the finest Mexican tequila combined with lime and fruit juice and finished off with triple sec.

Make it Irish – Blend Bailey’s Irish Cream with peppermint schnapps to warm up a winter wedding and party like the Lord of the Riverdance.

From Russia, with love – Take the finest Russian vodka and make a vodka martini.

Pirates of the Caribbean – imbibe the taste of the Caribbean with a Caipirissima. Based on the Brazilian Caipirinha which is made with cachaça, this version combines Caribbean rum and lime in a deliciously tropical sweet and tart cocktail. Now, if only Johnny Depp came with the drink.

That’s amore – created in Harry’s Bar in Venice, this iconic Italian cocktail sends you to Italy with one sip. Prosecco and peach nectar combine in this spectacularly pink colored drink named after 15th century Venetian artist Giovanni Bellini.

Vive la France – The French Blonde is the epitome of style and sophistication and adds a touch of class to any event. Quintessentially French, this refreshing citrus drink mixes St. Germain elderflower liquor, white lillet, gin and grapefruit juice. Oh là là!

Rule, Britannia – it doesn’t get much more British than the classic Pimms. Served at almost every garden party, this iconic drink is perfect for a garden wedding. Made by mixing Pimms (a tea colored, gin based liquor) with French lemonade and garnished with a cucumber slice, this delicate drink is British high society at its finest. Chin Chin!
