The Love Story

How did the two of you meet? We met at the Flight Centre's Valentine's Day buzz night work party. Braydon gave me a little confetti love heart which I still have to this day.

That night he stole Valentine's kisses and my heart along with it.

The rest was fate!

How did he propose? A year and a half later he hired out a private island in the Maldives and had "Will you marry me Suzy?" written in the sand with rose petals inside a big love heart.

The Wedding

How did you find the experience of planning a wedding? It actually wasn't too stressful; we just took one thing at a time. I do wish I had started booking in hair and makeup and other vendors earlier though. The most hectic part is the weeks before the wedding when everything comes together and you have so many things to keep track of and think about. I used my calendar reminders and for appointments in my phone which was a life saver.

From where did you take your inspiration? Mostly through Instagram.

Where was your wedding ceremony? In the chapel at The Valley Estate, Currumbin Valley, Queensland, Australia

Where was your reception? Also at The Valley Estate.

When did you get married, what month or year?  30 October 2021.

Did you employ a certain style or theme for the day? It was black tie dress but the venue really had its own theme of modern but fancy.

Did you use a wedding planner? No

Please describe your bridal gown, your husband's suit, and your bridesmaids' dresses? My dress was a fitted, plain, classic mermaid style and I added a big bow on the back for a little bit of drama. The dress fitted a lot better when I tried it on in the store than it did on the day.

Braydon and the groomsmen all got their suits made at Institchu. Their service and work there is amazing and they were so happy with them. The Groomsmen had black tuxedos and Braydon had dark green.

The Bridesmaid dresses were a burnt orange floor length silky thin strap dress. They all ended up looking absolutely perfect.

Who did your makeup? Juliana Cruz - she's done my makeup a few times before and does a bloody amazing job. My bridesmaids keep telling me how much they loved their makeup on the day.

What cake did you choose and what did it look like? I tried to stay local with the cake to help out small business but also avoid large delivery fees. We went for a plain white cake, 3 tier with a nice green bow around the middle. Kind of going for the simple but with a little bit of drama theme again. We chose 3 different types f mud cake - chocolate, caramel and white raspberry and they were all so delicious!

Where did you go on your honeymoon? Adelaide, McLaren Vale and Barossa. If we were allowed to travel internationally at the time it would have been Greece and Italy.

What was the highlight of the day? Our entrance into the reception was one of the funniest things ever! We played Get It Right by Ferdinand fka Left Boy and entered at the first drop of the song with confetti cannons. It was a vibe and everyone was dancing.

What is the best wedding planning advice? Start early. Look at multiple options for everything and then break it down to what suits you best. And have fun with it!

Anything else that you would like to share or add? I don't think so!
