5 Reasons To Honeymoon In Morocco

For those looking for a little bit of everything during their honeymoon, Morocco is one of the world’s best destinations. Easily accessible and hugely varied in terms of topography, the North African nation is rapidly increasing in popularity and it’s not hard to see why. From the beach to the desert, the country has something for everyone so you’re guaranteed never to have a dull moment. Still on the fence? Here are our top five reasons why Morocco is the ultimate honeymoon destination.

Cities

The first thing that probably springs to mind when you think of Morocco is its famous cities: Marrakech, Fes and Casablanca. Indeed, these are probably the country’s top selling points as they encompass colourful markets, outstanding examples of traditional architecture and plenty of exciting eateries. Yet, there is even more wonder to be found within the various medinas, which are narrow maze like sections of the city. Chefchaouen is one of the most stunning medinas in the world so be sure to check that out.

Desert

You might not think there would be much to do in the desert but there is so much more to these dry expanses of land than you’d expect. Explore this sandy region either on foot, by camel or on a quadbike and check out the impressive Erg Chebbi sand dunes and its surrounding areas. You can also visit the palm-fringed oases and Bedouin camps that pepper the landscape.

Beach

Blessed with a fantastic coastline, Morocco is ideal for beach-lovers, whether they want to lie on the sand and soak up the sand or hit the waves and try out the surf. Perhaps the top coastal location in the country is Essaouira, which, in addition to its gorgeous beach, also has an ancient medina, Portuguese fort and some excellent dining options.

Mountains

If you want to break a sweat during your honeymoon then the Atlas Mountains should be your first port of call. Reaching up over 4,000 metres and stretching out over 2,500km this staggering mountain range is home to all sorts of exciting hiking trails that will reward adventurers with stunning vistas of some of Morocco’s most fabulous natural beauty.

Food

Whether you choose to visit the beaches, mountains, cities or desert, one thing in Morocco will remain constant no matter what. That something is its food. From pots full of steaming tagine to skewers of grilled meat and couscous, Moroccan cuisine is right up there on the international food scene and rightly so. With so many flavours and spices on offer, your tastebuds are guaranteed a field day, whatever you choose.
